Recap

We celebrated our 5th anniversary by going away for the weekend. We actually went the weekend before our anniversary because that is when we both could get the time off. Shawn, Alan's brother, had Amici come stay with him. Amici was able to play with Kana and have a good weekend. We went to Franconia, NH and rented a cabin. We drove around looking at the White Mountains,

we were very close to the Old Man on the Mountain (the rocks that made the profile have since fallen off [2003]),

and we went to a great little diner for brunch one day.

We also went to Clark's Trading Post in Lincoln,NH. We watched a small, family circus that was very well done.

And we saw some black bears that have been raised and trained by the Clark Family for years.

We enjoyed those events. The rest of Clark's was nice but definitely geared to families with children (which isn't a bad thing...just not us right now. :) ). Overall we had a good time and would recommend people visiting there at least once. :)

We traveled back home on Sunday. We picked up Amici at Shawn's and he seemed so happy to see us! We sure were excited to see him too!

Monday, July 16, 2007 at 11:30AM Amici had his 6th seizure. Alan was home and I was at work (it was Alan's day off). This one seemed to last the average time but at the end Amici had a hard time standing up (which is something Alan and I never have seen him have difficulty with before). We called the vet. We have an appointment coming up to give him his annual shots and see what else we can be doing to help reduce Amici's seizures. We did discuss potassium bromide with the vet and he is educated on that and has used it on other dogs with success. So we may be adding and/or changing his medicine regime. It was sad that Amici had another seizure quite close to his last one. Hopefully we'll get to the point where other dogs that have seizures are....a place where Amici has a much longer space in between seizures or none at all for a long time!

Since then Amici has been doing fine. He has been having fun at the dog park, playing with Kana on the nights we see Shawn, and just relaxing and receiving love from his family.

We haven't posted too much lately because Mom has been working on a project that has took up a lot of her posting time. So....hopefully that gets over with soon. Maybe we'll have updated pics of Amici this weekend. Let's hope. :)

Until then here is a fairly recent pic (7/7/07) of Amici at the Portland Head Light/Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth, ME. As you'll see in the picture it was quite the foggy day there.

Look like your mom and dad had lots of fun without you. The summer after I came to live with mom and dad we went on a camping vacation to New England....we went to the places you visited...very cool! My dad came home tonight and said mom and the little biped might be traveling with him to Portland soon....but us doggies will have to stay home...

I hope they can fix your meds so your seizures stop, Amici. I've had a couple seizures, but not enough to be medicated.
