Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

We choose and cut down our Christmas tree a few days after Thanksgiving. We go to a fun Christmas farm in Scarborough, ME where they have wagon rides, hot cocoa, and a nice family atmosphere.

I am always a bit slow on decorating the tree once we get it inside. What I really like about a live tree is the smell of it. Awww. It smells so good! Come to find out I was wise to not decorate the tree too soon because Amici had his own decorating idea. We've been trialing him out of his kennel for about a month. We got the Christmas tree and he seemed unfazed by it. Well, one night we got home and this is what we found (in addition to our first snow fall):

Yup, you saw the evidence. He chewed two nice size holes in our tree. Thankfully they were at the bottom so we were able to just turn the tree around. After the shock of him doing that, we started the kenneling again. One for the sake of the tree and most importantly, for the sake of Amici since pine needles can be deadly (they can puncture intestines). Amici has not displayed any side effects from it and has acted fine so we hope that he didn't digest too many pine needles. It seems he just wanted a few sticks, saw a tree, decided to chomp on it, and the rest is history.

He went to see Santa that Sat. Do you think he was on the good list or the naughty list? Apparently by the pic Santa thought he was on the good list. :)
From Santa & Amici

These pictures were taken today of our tree and Amici. Although he has gone back to the kennel- which hasn't phased him a bit, he has been a bit nicer to our tree. Today I found him carrying around my Santa ornament in his mouth (it is a stuffed one with my name on it). He wagged his tail and looked all sheepish but he hadn't ripped it. Santa is back on the tree again with a bit longer beard.

We've been getting our DWB Christmas cards by snail mail and email. All of them have been great. Thank-you for sending them to us! It is so much fun to check the mail now!

Here is Amici chillin with one of his few toys that he hasn't ripped to shreds within a few seconds of receiving it.

Great picture with Santa Amici!

It is tooo hard for us dogs to resist not chewing on a tree that is IN our own house. I mean, how weird is that to have a tree inside now!

I have tried to chew on my tree too but they yell at me every time.

I LOVE love love that last picture of you with your stuffie.

You are just sooo sweet!

Kisses

Christmas trees are so weird. Why would the humans want a tree inside the house and then expect us not to touch it? Then they put stuffies all over it. What's up with that? I love what you did to the tree. Looks great!

Hey, we can't think of - and have done - far worse to a tree in the house then chew a little on it.

Well, at least he didn't pee on it, right? :)

We've woken up every morning to a little scavenger hunt of Xmas ornaments, thanks to our kitties!

Woo & Santa look prety cozy there! Woo have a furry cute expression - a definite "I'm a good dog" face! And what's up with having a tree IN the house? That's no weirder than chewing a hole or two on the tree in your house.

Amici, you're doing better than we are. We don't have a tree at all because Mom doesn't trust us not to chase Wilbur up the tree! Whatever!

Both Amici and the tree are gorgeous. Now did you get all that snow we keep hearing that parts of Maine got hit with?

Just be thankful Amici hasn't lifted his leg on the tree - we have had that happen here years ago and it was an ARTIFICIAL tree.

Happy Holidays.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Glad you loked my card. The way we go everyone, including the cat to sit together like that is food. My catbrother acts like a dog when food is involved. He'll sit, dance, beg and even come when his name is called if there is food involved (or he thinks food will be involved).
Merry Christmas!
